The kitchen has been completely refitted

It is the room guests mention most in the visitors’ book, and also the one that wears out fastest. We used the winter to overhaul the kitchen equipment completely.

What has changed

• A new dishwasher, quieter and faster — which matters when there are six of you.
• A new oven and hob, for real cooking rather than reheating.
• A complete set of pans and crockery for eight, matching the dining room table.
• The filter and Senseo coffee machines stay, because regulars are attached to them.

What has not changed

Everything else: the light, the old dresser, the table where breakfast runs long. The idea was never to turn the kitchen into a laboratory, but to make sure a proper family meal can be prepared without the equipment getting in the way.

The Chablis market is five minutes’ walk away: you come back with your arms full, and the kitchen keeps up.
