A wine tourism stay in the heart of Chablis
Staying in the village itself changes everything: you walk home from a tasting, and the grand cru slope is fifteen minutes from the gate.
The Chablis vineyard in brief
Chablis is the northern gateway to wine Burgundy. Chardonnay here produces sharp, taut whites shaped by Kimmeridgian soil — marl packed with tiny fossil oysters that gives the wine its minerality.
The appellation has four tiers: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru (around forty climats) and Chablis Grand Cru — just seven climats, all on the same slope on the right bank of the Serein.
From the house, the centre of the village is a five-minute walk, and most of the tasting cellars are there.
Three days of wine tourism from the house
- Day 1 — understand — the Vinéa Passion wine museum in Chablis to set the scene, then a first tasting in a village cellar.
- Day 2 — walk — climb the grand cru slope, take in the view over the Serein, have lunch in the village and taste with a right-bank grower.
- Day 3 — widen — head down to Tonnerre and Tanlay, stop at estates across the Yonne and come back through the wine villages of the Chablisien.
Taste without getting back in the car
This is the decisive argument for staying in the village: after a tasting you walk home. The house has private parking where the car can sit untouched for two full days.
